Stoke-on-Trent was formed by a federation of six towns in North Staffordshire and is often referred to as ‘The Potteries’, due to its history of the pottery industry. It is situated in the north west of the Midlands and is home to many nationwide businesses, such as Michelin, JCB, Vodafone and Bet365. It is also the location of the Royal Stoke University Hospital, as seen on Channel 4’s ‘Critical Condition’, as well as WJ North Roadmarking and the Intu Potteries shopping centre & Festival Retail Park. Not too far away is the UK’s largest and most famous theme park attraction – Alton Towers.
